It is with great interest that I write to you to outline our motivation for this application to MYP at Skagerak International School in Sandefjord.

The applicants name is Ane Maria Aarnseth, born 1st of July 2007 (12 years), she is Norwegian.

Initially I would like to emphasise that our next of kin are both American and Norwegian. Thus, our particular interest in what Skagerak International School has to offer. As most of our closest family live in Houston, Texas, I anticipate that Ane Maria will be taking international studies abroad when she approaches her University level. As I also have studied and lived abroad for some years, having experienced how greatly an international environment enrichen you both professionally and personally, I will be able to support Ane Maria along the way with subjects as for example French.

Ane Maria has acquired her primary school skills from Træleborg primary school in Tønsberg. Her competence and skills within the different school subjects have normally been lying somewhat higher than what has been expected from children at the same age level. She has always been particularly interested in Mathematics and English, and she is well versed in both subjects.

Apart from school subjects as such, Ane Maria was elected student body president this final year at her primary school. Her friends at school describe her as supportive, fearless, loyal, fair and kind to others. As I know her, one of her greatest qualities is in fact that she will not hesitate to «speak up» for others who need support or help.

In her spare time, Ane Maria has been dancing classical ballet for 8 years, until recently, when she took a break only to discover other sport activities. In addition to the aforementioned, Ane Maria has been playing the violin for 5 years, and she has recently started up as a violinist in Vestfold Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (VUSO).

As guardian and parent of Ane Maria, my aim has always been to safeguard, strengthen and support any understanding, competence and fascination for the international environment. I also believe in giving Ane Maria the opportunity to really investigate and develop perspectives within and beyond each school subject, their interconnection and their correlation with the reality mirrored in the local -and international communities. To my knowledge parents of children attending Skagerak International School, are especially appreciative of the way school subjects are investigated in enrichening ways intellectually, not merely due to the high standards in the competence level of each subject, but also because of the way the subjects are aimed to reach a higher understanding of others,  given the international perspectives offered at Skagerak International School.

Ane Maria is highly motivated to attend Skagerak International School. Accordingly, we would love the opportunity to discuss Ane Marias possibilities at Skagerak International School further with you.
